Damon Young is a writer, critic, humorist, professional black person, and pancake connoisseur.
Dan Friedson, an attorney and former middle-school teacher, has been working to strengthen communities for decades. His concern for the violence in the Woodland Hills School District lead him to cross paths with Summer Lee. She convinced him that we have to take our classrooms to Harrisburg to work with our neighborhoods here. In our opinion, we cannot afford the status quo morally or financially on this issue. We need advocates who know the law on the issues in the State House now.
We all found a time during Damon’s speaking tour this year to throw a brunch in honor of democracy and specifically for Summer Lee. Summer Lee is running for the Legislative Seat of the 34th District, and this why that is important to us: Schools, fracking, mass incarceration, asthma, democracy, you get the idea.
Summer Lee is a community organizer and advocate from Braddock. She has been a leader in the movement to reform the Woodland Hills School District, and holds a law degree from Howard University.
We invite you to come hear her ideas for creating equity in education, ending mass incarceration, and providing cleaner air and quality water.
We are lucky to have Summer Lee as an advocate for the 34th District and our schools, and we are supporting her run for State Representative for District 34 because we too, Dare to Move Forward.
Breakfast will be catered by Square Cafe, and Dan will be serving Kansas-City-BBQ’d Brisket. Vegan options available! Let us know if you are coming below.
